WORK EXPERIENCE

All of it. Even the boring and lame stuff.

August 2017 - Present

THE FABULOUS

I help write and maintain blog.thefabulous.co. My main responsibilities are copywriting posts, editing the posts from other writers, uploading them to Wordpress, and fiddling with metadata. I also help write and edit some of the in-app content and have designed graphics and videos for Fabulous's Facebook page in the past.

January 2017 - June 2017

THE JAMBAR (YSU)

I was an Assistant Designer for Youngstown State University's campus newspaper, The Jambar. Because of my writing background, I also had minor copyediting duties. I learned more about InDesign in those six months than I ever did in a classroom!

June 2013 - May 2016

THE CENTER FOR STUDENT PROGRESS (YSU)

I wore a lot of hats at the CSP! Primarily, I was an office assistant. I worked the front desk and answered phones, scheduled appointments, and assisted student walk-ins by answering questions or connecting them to the resources they needed. I also worked as a data assistant; specifically, I entered tutoring and supplemental instruction data into Excel spreadsheets and the Banner database.

Feb 2011 - June 2013

GIANT EAGLE

I worked as a cashier, gas station attendant, and customer service representative for my local Giant Eagle. I did everything from cashing out orders to helping people pump their gas to assisting with money orders, lottery, utility bill payments, and even checked orders in and out for dry cleaning!

August 2008 - April 2010

MCDONALD'S

I worked the front counter, drive-thru, and the kitchen. Most of my shifts were evening/midnights, so I got a lot of experience dealing with people at their absolute weirdest. I still haven't forgotten the man who came to the drive-thru at 1 in the morning and ordered a chicken sandwich with, quite literally, everything on it. Nor have I forgotten the creepy old dude who thought asking me to come shovel his driveway was a form of flirting that would totally work (it did not).

June 2006 (?) - June 2009

PARTY DJ

Thanks to my generous uncle, who would let me borrow his stereo speakers, I provided music for dozens of various Girl Scout events and parties. I know more about 2000s Disney pop culture than I probably would otherwise. And I can still do all the classic party dances (my favorite is the Electric Slide).

June 2006 - August 2006

CAMP SUGARBUSH

My very first job was as a kitchen aide at the Girl Scout-owned summer camp, Camp Sugarbush. I worked alongside Head Chef Cookie and Assistant Chef Punkin (we were required to have "camp names"; mine was Small Fry) prepping and serving meals, then cleaning up afterward. I also helped pack meal kits for camper groups who chose to make their own dinner at their campgrounds.

EDUCATION

Cuz being self-taught isn't good enough in this economy.

YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY

2012 - 2017 | Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and Editing with Minor in Italian

I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.8 GPA. I was also given the opportunity to study abroad in Italy between May and June of 2014. I spent two weeks touring the mainland and four weeks studying the Italian language at the Culturforum School in Cefalù, Sicily.

THE ART INSTITUTE OF PITTSBURGH

July 2010 - December 2011 | Did Not Graduate

I studied graphic design and animation very briefly at AIP and learned that being poor is not conducive to healthy learning! I ultimately dropped out after some soul searching taught me that I'd made the wrong choice to study art here. Private universities are a scam. Don't be like me! Stick to public schools!

GIRARD HIGH SCHOOL

August 2004 - June 2009 | Graduated 24th out of 107 Students.

I'll be the first to admit I coasted through high school without really trying. But I still ended up with a 3.6 (thanks gym and chemistry...) and earned CPR certification my junior year. I also had a painting I did for an art class featured in a local art gallery, so that's pretty cool!

GIRL SCOUTS OF NORTH EAST OHIO

1997 - 2009

I was a Girl Scout for pretty much my entire life. Between the workshops and camps I attended, field trips I took, and subjects I studied for badges, I received an incredible and well-rounded education on how to be a hard-working and decent person. I also consistently had more community service hours under my belt than anyone else I knew.
